Mikey, along with Shane Lynch, Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy and Stephen Gately, formed BOYZONE in 1993. They were all active in the Dublin arts scene when they got together and decided to form an all-guy vocal group.
Their first single was a cover of the Spinners’ ‘Working My Way Back To You’, which started the rise to superstar status in the UK as well as Europe, Asia and Latin America.
Their first album ‘Said And Done’ was released in 1994 and shot to number one in the UK. Their second album ‘A Different Beat’, also topped the charts and sold over two million copies worldwide.
Boyzone scored a musical hat trick with their next album ‘Where We Belong’. Released in Europe in 1998, it became their third consecutive album to hit number one.
Their last album before taking a break ‘By Request’ was a compilation of their greatest hits, and was also a massive success.
Mikey completed the massive reunion tour with Boyzone ‘Back Again…No Matter What’ in the summer of 2008 which consisted of 36 sell out shows. The first new Boyzone single ‘Love You Anyway’ was released on 29th September 2008 & entered the UK National Charts at number 5 followed with an album release in October which entered the UK National Charts at number 4.
Their second hit single ‘Better’ was released in December 08.
Boyzone completed their second massive tour since their reunion, finishing in June 2009.
Mikey was a popular participant on Dancing On Ice- series 5
On 8th March 2010 Boyzone released the new album ‘Brother’ which went straight to NUMBER ONE
heir TV special ‘Boyzone: A Tribute To Stephen Gately’ can be seen shortly on ITV1.
