Tara Newley (Daughter of Joan Collins & Anthony Newley)

Tara literally grew up on Hollywood sound stages, and began work as a runner on Film and Pop Videos, moving on to Continuity, P.A., and TV presenter for Granada, LWT, and ITV on everything from youth culture to cookery. Realizing that radio afforded more bad hair days, she worked her way up to drive time presenter on Viva! radio via Capital, Talk Radio, et all. Producing, writing, and driving the desk as well as editing packages for radio.

Years lost in dingy dives as singer/songwriter in various bands, culminated in the release of three singles with Virgin (Boy George’s ‘More Protein’ label), ZTT (Trevor Horn’s label), and Confusion Records. Her journalistic work includes reporter for OK! magazine, columnist for The Daily Mail and Good Health Magazine, plus Sub Editor of For Women! Her screen writing work includes a feature film script, ‘The Diary’, made in France. Her voice over work includes everything from children’s TV characters (The Fimbles) to voicing prime time TV for Channel 4, 5 and ITV.

In the last two years, Tara created and executive produced a daytime pilot for Channel 4, presented and produced for Inside Out West for BBC West, was commissioned by Motional Media to create a new daytime silent ‘chat’ show for UK bus screens, worked as a writer/comedienne on a Baby Cow/Conker Media Pilot, wrote and produced a comedy/drama taster which the BBC said was the best ‘taster’ they had ever seen, and is currently in development on two screenplays, and a novel.

Her key skills are screenplay and comedy writing, performing as a comedienne, actress and presenter and popular journalism. She has a profound understanding of different audiences and their relationship with radio and television and a realistic knowledge of production processes. As an addict of absorbing popular culture and seeing where it goes next, it’s not just her journalism that spots the latest ‘zeitgeist’…it’s her comedy and drama instincts that create new opportunities and fresh ideas.
