Shane Lynch

Shane, along with Ronan Keating, Mikey Graham, Keith Duffy and Stephen Gately, formed BOYZONE in 1993. They were all active in the Dublin arts scene when they got together and decided to form an all-guy vocal group.

Their first single was a cover of the Spinners’ ‘Working My Way Back To You’, which started the rise to superstar status in the UK as well as Europe, Asia and Latin America.

Their first album ‘Said And Done’ was released in 1994 and shot to number one in the UK. Their second album ‘A Different Beat’, also topped the charts and sold over two million copies worldwide.

Boyzone scored a musical hat trick with their next album ‘Where We Belong’. Released in Europe in 1998, it became their third consecutive album to hit number one.

Their last album before taking a break ‘By Request’ was a compilation of their greatest hits, and was also a massive success.

Since then Shane has been concentrating on his greatest love – racing in the British GT Championships, driving the world famous TVR Tuscan T400R.

Shane was a contestant on The Games 2004 (Channel 4 and E4) in April 2004 where he came first, and then also became a regular on Dream Team for Sky 1 where he played the part of millionaire entrepreneur Eli Knox.

Shane returned to The Games in March 2006 to compete in The Champions of Champions and was also one of the participants in Love Island for ITV in July 2006.

Shane has appeared on numerous TV shows such as Don’t Call Me Stupid (ITV1), The Truth About Boybands (ITV1), Celebrity Weakest Link (BBC),  Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway (ITV1), Dales Supermarket Sweep (ITV1), Loose Women (ITV1), Richard & Judy (C4), 5th Gear (C5), & more recently Mr & Mrs (ITV1) & Family Fortunes (ITV1) .

Shane & Sheena: A Boyz Own Wedding (a two part TV show documenting the lead up to and also the wedding itself of Shane & his then fiancé Sheena), was commissioned by RTE. It proved to be a great success receiving a 20% share of the Irish TV audience for the first episode transmitted on 18th Sept 07.

Shane was also on series 2 of Cirque de Celebrite, a priority show for Sky 1 towards the end of 2007.

Shane completed the massive reunion tour with Boyzone ‘Back Again…No Matter What’   in the summer of 2008 which consisted of 36 sell out shows. The first new Boyzone single ‘Love You Anyway’ was released on 29th September 2008 & entered the UK National Charts at number 5 followed with an album release in October which entered the UK National Charts at number 4. Their second hit single ‘Better’ was released in December 08.

Boyzone completed their second massive tour since their reunion, finishing  in June 2009.

Shane has also been on the very successful TV show The All Ireland Talent Show (RTE) as a judge, & returned for the 2nd series of the show.

On 8th March 2010 Boyzone released the new album ‘Brother’ which went straight to NUMBER ONE

Their TV special ‘Boyzone: A Tribute To Stephen Gately’ can be seen shortly on ITV1.
